Upgrading Your Browser

As new browsers are released there is more functionality available.  This might not be a major reason if you do not use new technology as it becomes available. For instance, if you have an older browser and want to listen to audio on the Internet, you may have to download another program (plug-in) in order to hear the audio.

Verisign™, "the leading provider of Internet trust services", has posted a security alert to upgrade browsers. You may see a message "Certificate Authority Is Expired" which expired December 31, 1999.

CERT®, Computer Emergency Response Team, has issued an Advisory regarding Netscape browsers prior to version 4.73.  Prior versions have a flaw that can allow someone to impersonate the web site that you believe will receive your information.

Microsoft acknowledged a browser flaw as reported by The Standard and in another article.

Upgrade Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Upgrade Netscape.
